One SSH key, one short config file and one API key let you reach, check and keep track of every Pulsed Media seedbox and storage box you have from your own computer, without installing anything on the boxes.
Log in to every box with one key
Put each box in ~/.ssh/config on your own computer, one Host entry per box. The server name is on the service page in the client area and in your welcome email:
Host box1HostName SERVERNAME1.pulsedmedia.comUser USERNAME1Host box2HostName SERVERNAME2.pulsedmedia.comUser USERNAME2
Then ssh box1 or ssh box2 is all you type. Add the same public key to each box once, with ssh-copy-id box1 and so on, and none of them asks for a password again. Step-by-step key setup, including Windows: Setting up SSH Key based authentication for passwordless logins.
Check the limits on all of them in one go
On any box, userShowLimits prints your disk, file, memory, process and traffic limits next to what you use now. With the config above, one line on your computer runs it on every box:
for h in box1 box2; do echo "== $h"; ssh "$h" '~/bin/userShowLimits'; done
For a script, userShowLimits --jsonl prints one figure per line, so ssh box1 '~/bin/userShowLimits --jsonl' | grep '"blocks used"' returns just the disk use. The command arrives with your server's regular platform updates and may not be on every server yet; where it is missing, quota -s shows disk and file limits. What each figure means: How do I see my account's limits and usage from SSH?
Every service in one request
The Pulsed Media API key returns all services on your account as one JSON answer: status, next due date, billing cycle and price, and for seedboxes and storage boxes the username, login address and, when recorded, the latest disk, traffic and CPU-hour figures. It never includes a password.
- Create the key in the client area at pulsedmedia.com/clients/index.php?m=pmapi. Only the account owner can, and the key is shown once, so copy it then.
- Leave the box that lets the key place orders unticked. A key that is not allowed to order cannot change anything.
- Send the key in a header:
curl -H "X-API-Key: YOUR_KEY" https://pulsedmedia.com/remote/pmapi-feed.php
The full field list and the replace and revoke options are in Does Pulsed Media offer public data feeds or an open API?
A name that stays with each service
Every active service also has a permalink, a hostname built from its service ID that keeps pointing at the service when it moves to another server. Use it for anything that must keep reaching a box across a move, such as a webhook target or an API you run on the box. After a move it can take up to a day for every resolver to see the new address. How to work out yours: Permalinks on PMSS.
Moving data between boxes
Traffic between a seedbox and a storage box in the same datacenter is unmetered at up to 10Gbps, and rclone is already installed on every seedbox. For a large copy, run rclone copy with --transfers 8 straight against the remote; a single stream tops out around 33 to 40 MB/s. Be careful with rclone sync: it deletes files on the destination that are not on the source, so try it with --dry-run first. Mounting a storage box under a seedbox, and keeping a hot and a cold tier as one library, is covered in Can I use a storage box to expand my seedbox?
One dashboard for all of them
If you would rather see everything on one web page, PMSS Fleet Manager is a community-made, open-source dashboard that logs in to each box over SSH as you and can use the API key above for plan and renewal dates. Pulsed Media did not write it and does not maintain it, so its own project page is the place for questions about it. If you connect it to qBittorrent, give it your WebUI username and password and keep the WebUI login turned on.
Adding another box later takes one more Host entry. The new service shows up in the same API answer, under the same key, and has a permalink of its own.
