The tools Pikkumies ships with are for running a seedbox, but the agent itself is general. Anything you would do yourself over SSH, you can ask it to do.
Scripts
"Write me a script that renames every .mkv file in a folder to lowercase with dots instead of spaces, and explain how to run it safely." It writes the script, tests it on throwaway files, makes a dry run the default and says what it left behind. Read the script before you run it on real files.
Explanations
- "Explain this config file."
- "What does this error in my log mean?"
- "Summarise the last hour of this log."
It reads the file in your account and explains it in plain words.
Writing
"Write a README for my script." "Draft a cron line that runs this every night at three." It reads what is there and writes the file or the line for you to check.
Media files
- "Will this video play in my browser?" It reads the file's streams and tells you, and whether a quick repackage to MP4 is enough or it needs converting.
- "Make this MKV an MP4" or "Give me just the audio." It converts with ffmpeg at low priority, checks your free space first, and never overwrites a file unless you say so.
- "Turn this recording into text." If you have your own key for a hosted speech-to-text service, it uses that; you type the service address, model and key at a terminal prompt, never in the chat. Without a key, or when the service fails, it uses a local speech-to-text engine once you have asked it to build one in your account (the build takes a while; the default model is about 150 MB). The local engine runs on the server's CPU.
Scheduled jobs
It can set up jobs that run on a schedule, through the once-a-minute line in your crontab. Scheduled jobs get the same check as a conversation: a job you set up in your own words can do what you asked it to do, and any other delete, send or exposure is skipped and reported in the job's output, apart from a support ticket it may open by itself on a Pulsed Media seedbox. Scheduled jobs run the agent, so they use AI credits each time they run.
Learning
Ask it how something works on Linux, why a command behaves the way it does, or what a better way would be. It is a patient colleague with a terminal.
The agent can be wrong, so its answers name their sources. Before it edits a file of up to 1 MiB it keeps a copy of it, and it can set up backups, for example to a Storage Box. More: Pikkumies on PMSS. Other ways to use your credits: What can I do with AI credits on my seedbox?
