What is Pikkumies?

Pikkumies is the AI helper Pulsed Media makes for its seedboxes. It lives in your own seedbox account and does the work instead of describing it: ask it what is eating your quota and it measures your folders, ask why a torrent is stalled and it checks your torrent client and the tracker's answer.

What it is

  • An agent with a terminal in your account. It runs commands, reads and writes files, and plans before it acts. It runs as your user, with your rights and nothing more.
  • Built for the seedbox, not limited to it. It ships with tools for torrent clients, the *arr apps, media servers, Docker, rclone and backups, and it searches the Pulsed Media wiki and knowledge base, downloaded to your account. It also explains error messages, writes scripts and answers general questions.
  • Paid from your AI credits. It uses the AI credits your Pulsed Media services already earn, so it costs nothing extra.
  • Open source. Apache 2.0, on GitHub, built on an open-source agent runtime. It talks to any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, so you can point it at a provider of your own on any server: see Configuring Pikkumies.

What it is not

It is new and experimental, and it can be wrong, so its answers name their sources. It does the work you ask for without approval prompts. It does not run a delete, a send, or anything that exposes files or a port to the internet, when that could lose or reveal data for good and your own words did not ask for it; the answer then says what was skipped and why. The one exception: on a Pulsed Media seedbox it may open a support ticket by itself when it is stuck (details). Keep backups of anything you cannot lose. For anything about your service or billing, open a support ticket as usual. On a technical ticket about your seedbox, our support may ask the Pikkumies in your account to run the checks, on your account's own AI credits, and the reply quotes what it was asked to do.

Where to start

Connect over SSH and run pikkumies doctor. If it answers, Pikkumies is already installed; if not, run ~/bin/install-pikkumies.sh. Then type pikkumies and ask your question.
