On a seedbox with a current platform version, the system commands codex, claude and gemini start on your AI credits by themselves when ~/.virsilipasKey holds your key and you have not set the tool up with an account of your own. There is nothing to configure. In a terminal the first line says so, for example:
Codex is using your Pulsed Media AI credits (~/.virsilipasKey). To change: PMSS_VIRSILIPAS=off codex, or codex login.
All three use the model default. Scripts and cron jobs that run these commands use the credits too; they just do not print the line.
Your own setup always wins
A tool leaves the credits alone when you have set it up yourself, for example:
- Codex: you logged in with
codex login,OPENAI_API_KEYis set, or you chose a model or provider in~/.codex/config.tomlor on the command line. - Claude Code: you logged in with
/login, anANTHROPIC_key or address variable is set, or you passed--modelor--settings. - Gemini CLI:
GEMINI_API_KEYorGOOGLE_API_KEYis set, you chose a sign-in method in its settings, or you passed-m.
Turning it off
- For one run:
PMSS_VIRSILIPAS=off claude(the same works forcodexandgemini). - For good: add
export PMSS_VIRSILIPAS=offto~/.bashrc.userand open a new shell. Cron jobs do not read that file, so a script that must not use credits needs the line itself. - To use your own account:
printf '%s' "$OPENAI_API_KEY" | codex login --with-api-keyfor Codex;PMSS_VIRSILIPAS=off claudeand then/loginfor Claude Code; your ownGEMINI_API_KEYin~/.bashrc.userfor Gemini CLI.
A bigger model
Claude Code takes another model by name: ANTHROPIC_MODEL=large claude. For Codex and Gemini CLI, use the manual settings on the wiki.
If the line does not appear and the tool asks you to sign in, your server may not have this yet, or your key file is missing. The full guide, including manual settings that work on every server: AI Coding Tools on PMSS.
