~/.virsilipasKey is a small file in your seedbox home directory that holds your AI key, so tools on the seedbox can use your AI credits without asking for it. It has two lines:
endpoint=https://virsilipas.mcx.fi/v1 key=your-key-here
What uses it
- The coding tools
codex,claudeandgeministart on your credits when the file is in place. - Pikkumies, Pulsed Media's own helper for your seedbox, reads its key from it (How do AI credits work with Pikkumies?).
- A first OpenClaw install sets itself up on your credits when the file is there.
- Your own scripts can read it:
KEY=$(sed -n 's/^key=//p' ~/.virsilipasKey)
Adding it yourself
Many accounts already have the file. If yours does not, copy your key from the Virsilipas AI key page, then over SSH run:
nano ~/.virsilipasKey
Write the two lines above with your key after key=, save, and make the file readable only by you:
chmod 600 ~/.virsilipasKey
The coding tools and OpenClaw ignore the file unless it is a plain file owned by your account, so do not replace it with a link.
After you get a new key
Put the new key on the key= line. The coding tools read the file each time they start. OpenClaw reads it when its gateway starts, so restart it with install-openclaw stop and then install-openclaw start.
If you do not want tools to use it
Delete the file, or keep it and turn the coding tools' automatic use off: see Turning it off on the wiki.
