How do I see my account's limits and usage from SSH?

Log in over SSH and run one command:

userShowLimits

It prints the main limits on your seedbox or storage box account (disk, files, memory, processes, CPU, disk I/O and traffic), how much of each you are using right now, and a few figures about the server your account runs on.

What it shows

  • Disk space and files: what you use against your soft and hard limits, from a quota reading refreshed every minute (for a live reading, run quota -s). Why there is a separate file limit: Is there a fixed number of inodes per TB?
  • Memory: current use against your memory limit, whether memory is under pressure, and how many times a program was stopped for running out of memory. If that keeps happening: Why is my seedbox using so much RAM, and what can I do?
  • Processes and open files: how many processes you run against your process limit, and your open-files limit.
  • CPU and disk I/O: your priority weights and any speed caps on reads and writes.
  • Traffic: your upload over the past 30 days against your traffic limit, any bonus traffic, and inbound traffic. How the limit works: How does the seedbox traffic limit work?
  • Your last 30 days: CPU hours, RAM GB-hours, and how much you read from and wrote to disk.
  • The server: uptime, load, memory and free space on the shared disk. Everyone on that server shares these figures; they are not yours alone.

Reading the numbers

  • enforced is the limit the server applies right now. configured is the value set for your account. They can differ: the enforced memory ceiling, for example, can sit a little above the configured amount. On the CPU and disk priority lines the enforced figure is in the server's own units, a different scale from the configured weight, so the two numbers usually differ even when everything is set correctly.
  • unlimited means no limit is set for that item. n/a means the figure is not available for your account.
  • The bar after a figure shows how close you are to its limit: green is comfortable, yellow is getting close, red is near or over.

For scripts

userShowLimits --json prints everything as one JSON document. userShowLimits --jsonl prints one figure per line, so you can pick out a single line, for example your disk use:

userShowLimits --jsonl | grep '"blocks used"'

"command not found"?

The command arrives with your server's regular platform updates, so it may not be on every server yet. Until it is, quota -s shows your disk and file limits, and the Diagnose button on your service page in the client area emails you your disk and memory use.

Every line of the output explained, with examples: userShowLimits on PMSS.
