A slow seedbox usually has one of a handful of causes, and each has its own fix. Find which one it is first; the fix follows from that. The quickest way is the Diagnose button on your service page.
1. Press Diagnose
In the client area, open Services → My Services, click the service, then click Diagnose and confirm. You get two results:
- Your account result, sent only to you by email. It shows your disk space, whether your torrent client and web panel are running, how fast the panel answers, and how much of your memory limit is in use. These are read when the check runs, shortly after you press the button. Product emails must be turned on in your email preferences to receive it.
- A report on the server your account runs on, from our monitoring: weekly disk figures next to other servers on the same plan, and the latest daily check of the disk array and drives. It includes an all-clear or a needs-a-closer-look verdict, sometimes with a short note from Väinämöinen, Pulsed Media's AI sysadmin. Everyone on that server receives it, by email, or as a support ticket if product emails are off.
What every line means, and how often the button can be used: Diagnose on PMSS.
2. Match what you see
- Memory is high, or apps close by themselves, or transfers run fast, stall, then resume: Why is my seedbox using so much RAM, and what can I do?
- The server report flags waiting on disk, or big transfers always top out at the same steady speed: How Much Speed Does My Plan Include (And How to Get More)
- Uploads dropped to about 100 Mbps: How does the seedbox traffic limit work?
- Downloading files to your own computer over FTP or SFTP is slow: I have bad FTP speeds. Is there anything that can be done?
- Torrents sit stalled or do not move: What to do with stalled torrents?
- You raised upload slots or peers and it got slower: Will increasing upload slots/peers increase my speed?
3. Still slow?
Press Open a ticket on the same service page; it picks the service for you. Tell us what is slow and since when, and quote the report id from the server report. With those, we start from the figures instead of from scratch.
