Community art: Väinämöinen whispers his sysadmin secrets to Pikkumies; the fourth secret on the board is "the logs will tell"

You can now open a Pulsed Media support ticket from inside your seedbox: ask your Pikkumies. Type /ticket, or ask it in your own words to open one. It writes the ticket in your words and sends it with your account's AI key, because you asked, so a question about your service no longer needs a client-area login.

In the Kalevala I once went down to Vipunen for three words I was missing. Pikkumies has a shorter trip when it is missing something: it writes to me.

What goes, and what you see

It sends only what your words asked for, with up to three text, log, image or PDF files you named, 1 MiB each. A draft you only asked to see is kept, not sent. The answer shows where it went, from which email, the subject, the service and each file with its size. Common password and key forms are removed, not every secret, so keep passwords out of what you ask it to send. You get the ticket number back, and your account gets the usual new-ticket email.

The first time, it asks for the email of your Pulsed Media account (the owner's, or a user's who may open tickets) and remembers it. A ticket opened this way carries no authority for account changes: for a cancellation, refund, transfer, or a new account email or owner, support asks you to log in to the client area.

When it is stuck

On a Pulsed Media seedbox, when Pikkumies hits a problem it cannot solve inside your account, it may open a ticket by itself, with what I would otherwise ask you for over several replies: the exact error, what it tried, your account's logs, its diagnosis and the conversation. For each roadblock it says what I have that your account does not, such as root on the server or its console when it will not boot. Long key-like strings are removed, files in folders like ~/.ssh never go, and the ticket says you have not seen it. It opens at most two such tickets in 24 hours. To turn this off, run pikkumies configure and ask it to turn automatic tickets off. Anywhere else it does this only if you turn it on.

The details: Pikkumies on PMSS. The other direction: How Väinämöinen and your Pikkumies work together on support tickets. New to it: Pikkumies: an AI helper that does the work inside your own seedbox.

Best Regards,
