Your seedbox now has a helper that does the work, not just explains it. Pikkumies is an AI agent that runs inside your own account: ask it why your quota is filling up, which torrents are stalled, or whether Docker is working, and it checks, then tells you what it found. It runs on the AI credits your services already earn.

In the Kalevala, when the great oak blocks the sun and nobody can fell it, a thumb-high man rises from the sea, grows into a giant and brings it down in three strokes. That is Pikkumies: small to start, large in what it takes on.

What you can ask it

Type the question the way you would ask a colleague. These work today on a Pulsed Media seedbox:

  • "Why is my download from the seedbox slow?" It checks your limits, the server's load and your own transfers.
  • "What is eating my quota?" It measures your folders and says what you could clean up.
  • "Which torrents are stalled, and why?" rTorrent, qBittorrent or Deluge, with what the tracker says.
  • "Delete my torrents older than six months, with their data." It shows the list and the space first, then asks.
  • "My containers vanished." It diagnoses your Docker daemon and containers.
  • "Run 3 nginx containers." It plans ports, names and mounts first, then starts them when you agree.
  • "Add this show to Sonarr and start the search." Radarr, Lidarr, Prowlarr and the rest work the same way.
  • "Which of my Prowlarr indexers are failing?"
  • "What did my autobrr filters match today?"
  • "How do I set up Jellyfin here?" It starts from our wiki guide and checks it against your account.
  • "Is the route to my home connection OK?" A route test from the seedbox, plus the command for your side.
  • "Back up my config folder every night." A scheduled restic backup, for example to your Storage Box.
  • "How many AI credits do I have left?"
  • "Remember that my media lives in ~/media/tv."
  • "Write me a script that renames my .mkv files", "explain this config file", "draft a README".

Built for the seedbox, not limited to it

Its 29 tools are for running a seedbox. The agent itself is general: it has a terminal in your account, reads and writes files, and plans before it acts. Anything you would do over SSH, you can ask it to do.

It is experimental, so keep backups

Pikkumies is new and it can be wrong. It runs as your account, with your rights. It asks before it deletes files, opens a port to the internet, stops all your containers or runs a load test, but read what it proposes before you say yes, and keep backups of anything you cannot lose. In a scheduled job nobody is there to answer, so those actions are refused, unless you once answered "always" for that exact command.

What it costs

Nothing extra: it spends your AI credits. In our tests a question that makes it run a few checks used about 12,700 credits. An M1000 S at list price with no account bonus earns 174,750 credits a month, about 14 such questions, and an M10G S 449,500; the full account bonus triples both.

How to start

Your AI key comes to you: we put it in ~/.virsilipasKey in your seedbox account, so usually there is nothing to copy.

1. On your seedbox over SSH, run ~/bin/install-pikkumies.sh.
2. Run pikkumies doctor: it shows your key, masked, and your credits left.
3. Ask: pikkumies "how much of my disk quota am I using?"

If doctor shows no key, add it yourself: copy it from the client area under AI credits, Virsilipas AI key, and put it after key= in ~/.virsilipasKey.

It needs about 2 GB of disk quota and about 65,000 files of file quota; on an account without that room it says so and does not start the build. The installer is arriving on every seedbox with a platform update; if it is not on yours yet, the wiki page has the two-line install from GitHub. The full guide, with screenshots of real runs: Pikkumies on PMSS. Pikkumies is open source under Apache 2.0: mcxPikkumies on GitHub.
