Getting our own DC running and operational has been a daunting task, there is so many things to work on, solve and create processes for. Even as a long time hosting professional (~17 years of experience), and with some previous colocation experience, i personally never expected this kind of myriad of things to be solved.

Granted, we did not take the easy route - do it with money. First: Our customer base is not like that, secondly we want to remain as self financed as possible.

Things have taken months longer to get up & running, and many things takes a lot of time, from small things such as individual power connectors to larger things than "how do we route this huge bunch of network cabling??" are all taking much more than expected.

Unexpected things wind up quite expensive, we have spent on Cat5e/6 network cabling alone to the tune of 1500€, power plugs and misc connectors to the tune of 800€ at wholesale prices. And these are the small expenses.

We are now at close to 60 nodes up & running, and readying to get tens up & running simultaneously, with about 60 nodes on backorder, 15 racked and ready to be switched up, 10 nodes waiting to be put on rack. That's about 145 nodes total we are targeting to have up & running by mid-december, most of which online by mid-november. It takes time to put more storage online, since we virtualize the storage.

It's a lot of work - insane amounts of work.

Gladly we are nearing a time when mass production can begin and we can start to concentrate on making things better instead of just getting online.

I'll be trying to post more updates in the future.
