We should be getting the keys, contracts etc. done within a couple of days.
A lot of hardware is arriving from a lot of different places, couple storage servers has been built so far, and misc servers are lying around.
Decided to do a nice upgrade to the SAN plans, we acquired several Cisco switches to act as SAN core, each switch has a unblocking 960Gbps fabric. We will have couple of these in production and a spare.
Also, for the SAN side we are going to use way over specced cabling, Cat5e is able to do 1Gbps, but we decided to go for Cat6a and Cat7 S/FTP, which both are way over spec, Cat7 being primarily for 10GbE. This will ensure the best speeds possible, as there will be a lot of cables bunched together and it's important to eliminate as many as possible sources for interference. The shielded cabling will also have way lower crosstalk etc. Cat5e is barely able to do 1Gbps - That's not something you want in your SAN.
The next step in storage servers will feature 60 to 80Tb raw storage in each of them, before finally stepping up to the 135 to 180Tb models.
It'll be after midsummer festivities before we can rack them etc. and we might have production capabilities by start of July.
