Your data is safe, your services ran throughout, and billing is fully back online. Here's what happened and what it means for you.
Between October 10 and 12, pulsedmedia.com and our billing / client area were hit by a sustained distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack aimed at knocking our website and account portal offline. At its peak it threw roughly 250,000 packets per second at our network layer and about 48,000 requests per second at the client area, from around 570 attacking addresses across many networks — 38 of which we recognized from an earlier attack on us in April.
What this did NOT affect: the attack targeted our website and billing portal — not the hosting platform — so your seedboxes and storage services were not its target. No customer data was lost, and nothing was exposed — no files, no credentials, no payment details. Your billing records are intact and accurate.
What it DID affect: reaching the website and the billing/client area was intermittent — it came and went — for roughly two to three days. If you tried to log in or pay during that window and couldn't, that was the attack, not your account.
It's over. The attack subsided on the evening of October 12 and service is fully restored. We absorbed and filtered the malicious traffic so legitimate users could get through, blocked the attacking sources, hardened the affected systems, and filed roughly 1,225 abuse reports with the networks the attack came from.
If an invoice came due during the disruption: the billing area is fully back to normal, so you can pay any open invoice now. If a payment didn't complete during the outage, please log in and pay it when convenient — there are no duplicate charges, and no late fee or suspension applies to an affected invoice until October 20.
Support: we're working through a temporary backlog of tickets that built up during the disruption, so replies are slower than usual right now. Every open ticket is in the queue and being worked through — thank you for your patience.
We've run Pulsed Media since 2010, and we've weathered attacks before. We've hardened against this one. Your services are reachable and your data is safe. We'd rather tell you plainly what happened than paper over it.
Thank you for your patience, and for trusting us with your data.
