For our own hardware supply chain is getting sorted out, we've had issues to get significant numbers of hardware delivered and online in the past month, and we are now settling to several hardware vendors.
We are also approaching this from the point of leasing some of the hardware since the need for new hardware does exceed greatly what we can get on our own budget alone for the next month.
For the next month we have already scheduled to get online at least:
15x2G
10x4G
15x16G
Most of these has already been sold and assigned for. We need to build the storage to go with these as well, which is approximately 110Tb and 10k IOPS+ constant.
If we find the development time we will be testing on small scale some distributed storage options as well, but how they work are not ready for prime time due to the need to triple to quadruple the amount of storage we have, so it will remain small scale testing just to see how the performance works out.
We are also going to test some new pieces of hardware this upcoming month to see if those will drive up the IOPS capabilities how much higher, along with some new software solutions for automatic storage tiering.
So it's going to be a another busy month.
We are also working finally on our own blade chassis and estimate the first prototypes will arrive by end of the month.
Infrastructure investments has been much much larger than anticipated, storage expenditure has been much much larger as well than expected. It also has come to our attention that offering a 2G model might not be in our best interests - RAM costs are so low right now, and RAM will provide such a boost to I/O performance, so we are considering the options in the upcoming weeks.
