We have decided it makes absolutely no sense to invest into last generation or older hardware, despite their cheap buy in cost. Namely because they offer both lower performance and higher electricity consumption, along with very short lifespan.
Therefore the upcoming 2G plan will be very restricted supply and not part of the main offerings.
Also, we intend to invest into the best of the current generation for the level of hardware, this means latest Ivy Bridge CPUs, only largest low voltage memory modules which can be utilized, only 80Plus Platinum PSUs etc etc. The buy in might be steeper but the savings in electricity and prolonged life span should be far worth it.
Further, we have decided to delay the launch of dedis a little bit back in order to ensure seedboxes, internal server etc. are migrated first, but the delay we are talking about is only a few weeks, basicly it's about prioritizing the workload we are under right now. Not once in Pulsed Media's history has there been such a high work load for such a prolonged period of time, but by the fall things should start settling down and getting back more to a routine.
We will also rework the pricing with updated electrical consumption figures from testing to be done during June and with the updated lifespan expectations.
Pre-orders will be opened within several weeks, if not earlier. More details of pre-order will be released at that time, along with updated schedule estimates.
