It is likely we will have the 2G, 4G and 16G models from start. We intend to keep as many units as possible on certain types to drive efficiencies of scale into play.
The local ssd cache we'd like to do but might not be on initial release, and rather added later. There is security concerns in cleaning the data from ssd cache drives and thus their endurance. We need to develop a secure erase system which does not unnecessarily wear the drives.
Bandwidth has been set so that the fair amount per server is 30Mbps+ at 100Mbps, and at 1Gbps 150Mbps+ at minimum. We will maintain at least this amount of bandwidth capability per server on datacenter scale.
It is also possible that monthly and quarterly signups will entail a setup fee initially.
Scalability?
Initially we will have room for roughly 1000 servers, with an IP block of /21 (2048 IP addresses). We can rather easily acquire extra space for upto 5000 servers at this location.
We will initially have only 1 fiber pair connected, installations of new fibers will take several weeks or upto a month.
We are acquiring an AS# so we can rather easily add peering and multi-homing during 2013/2014 winter.
We intend to acquire connectivity separately clearly intended for nordic and eastern (russia, asia) connectivity, this is already in the plans.
IP addresses will be the biggest limiting factor, if nothing else, we have the potential to use PA blocks from our upstream providers.
Scalability storage wise is infact constantly more and more efficient, as we reach more scale we can drive even more performance, even more reliability and even higher cost efficiency through the system.
Launch?
We are expecting to be online by 15th of June. Initially we will bring in our webservers, our own seedbox servers etc. and limited scale testing dedicated servers. We are hoping that by 1st of August we can start delivering dedicated servers at a scale, and hoping to fill this room by Spring, 2014.
